1963-1970 Iso Rivolta

The 1963-1970 Iso Rivolta is an Italo-American hybrid from a company whose main business was refrigerators. Power was supplied by the familiar Chevrolet 327 V-8 mounted in a steel platform chassis designed by ex-Ferrari engineer Giotto Bizzarrini. The steel notchback coupe body was styled by Bertone, and offered full four-passenger seating.

A very roadable machine thanks partly to the de Dion rear suspension, and quite fast -- up to 142 mph. Some models were fitted with a ZF five-speed gearbox, others with the Chevy four-speed manual or three-speed automatic. Rather "soft" for a high-performance Latin, designed with an eye to American sales, which were never high.

Not as sleek as contemporary Ferraris, but roomier. It's a more practical proposition for mechanical rebuilds and routine servicing on this side of the Atlantic, too, due to mass-production drivetrains. Replaced by the S4 Fidia sedan at the end of the decade.
