The 1950-1956 Rolls-Royce Phantom IV was the most exclusive of all postwar Rolls-Royce models, and not one you're apt to see any day of the week. The Phantom IV was built on a longer Silver Wraith chassis and powered by the Rolls-Royce straight six with two extra cylinders tacked on.
Each Phantom IV was built to special order, and went to royalty or heads of state only. Each was fitted with a special handcrafted limousine body with wood framing, and offered seven-passenger seating capacity. In appearance, it was "British formal," with a very upright stance.
Some models were fitted with freestanding headlamps; most had razor-edge styling. Rolls-Royce spared no expense on the Phantoms, the pride of its fleet, and apart from the chassis and suspension, they shared nothing with the more "common" Wraith and Dawn models.
