Suzuki SXForce Concept

Suzuki asserts each of its vehicles is infused with a dash of motorcycle DNA and heritage. The SXForce Concept takes that theme one step further. On the stand at the 2008 Chicago Auto Show, SXForce Concept blends Suzuki’s 2008 SX4 Sport subcompact sedan with a bit of motorcycle styling. According to Suzuki, the concept was “specially designed for life enthusiasts, adventurers, and thrill seekers.”

Created in conjunction with Road Race Motorsports of Santa Fe Springs, Calif., SXForce differs from its production sibling with a performance-tuned suspension, rear wing and 18-inch Enkei racing wheels and high-performance Toyo T1-R tires. Under the hood is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and five-speed manual transmission. Production SX4 sedans and hatchbacks get power from a normally-aspirated 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine paired with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission.

The motorcycle design influence is evident in styling cues like the sport bike-reminiscent high-mounted side mirrors, carbon-fiber body panels, Flash Pearl White and Orange Metallic exterior paint, dual exhaust, leather and suede-accented seats, and the handlebar-styled instrument cluster and controls.

Instead of SX4’s backseat, SXForce lost its bench to make room for a Rockford Fosgate audio system.

For now, the SXForce is simply a concept, and Suzuki won't say if it will see production. Suzuki did say the SXForce is fully drivable and has been track tested. If it passes the concept phase, SXForce would compete in the sporty/performance car class against vehicles like Scion’s tC and Volkswagen’s GTI.
