2008 Pontiac G8
The G8 show car displayed at the 2007 Chicago show was introduced by GM's Bob Lutz.
It is representative of the forthcoming G8 GT production models, but with special
non-production touches such as unique paint and interior trim,
20-inch wheels, and a lowered ride height.

A large, rear-wheel drive sedan returns to General Motors' sporty division with the arrival of the 2008 Pontiac G8. The G8 shares its basic design with large cars from GM's Australian Holden subsidiary.

The G8 will be available as a base or sporty GT model. The base offers a 261-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 while the GT has a 362-horsepower 6.0-liter V8. A 5-speed automatic transmission is standard on the base with a 6-speed automatic or optional 6-speed manual available for the GT.

2008 Pontiac G8 Competitors
We expect the 2008 Pontiac G8 to compete with the Chevrolet Impala, Chrysler 300, and Dodge Charger.

Available safety features include curtain side airbags, front side airbags, ABS, and traction control. Also available is OnStar assistance and XM Satellite radio.

G8 goes on sale in early 2008. Pontiac did not announce pricing for the G8, but we expect base models to start in the mid-$20,000 range. Check back for our full review.
