2008 Lincoln MKX Review
The 2008 Lincoln MKX gets some more standard equipment. This crossover seats five and shares its basic design with the Ford Edge. MKX offers front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The sole powertrain is a 265-hp 3.5-liter V6 engine that teams with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Maximum towing capacity is 3500 lb. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain side airbags, and front side airbags. Previously optional heated and ventilated front seats and a driver-seat memory system are newly standard on the 2008 MKX. Also standard is Ford's Sync voice-activated control for cell phones and MP3 players. A new Limited Edition Package includes specific trim, 20-inch wheels, and upgraded leather upholstery.
Competition
Consumer Guide Automotive places each vehicle into one of 18 classes based on size, price, and market position. Premium Midsize SUVs are similar in size and construction to Midsize SUVs. Most, in fact, are gilded versions of Midsize SUVs; though a few are exclusive upscale designs.

Our Best Buys include the Acura MDX, Buick Enclave, and Lexus RX. Our Recommended pick is the Volvo XC90.

New or significantly redesigned models include the Buick Enclave.

News
Ford Motor Company says it's developing a 3.7-liter V6 as an exclusive for future Lincoln models. The engine will premier with the 2009 midsize MKS sedan, but sources say the MKX may offer it too. Otherwise, this crossover SUV shouldn't change much through decade's end.
