1995 Lexus SC300 coupe

The 1990-2000 Lexus SC 300/400 was a graceful coupe that challenged the Mercedes SL at about half the price. The SC 300/400 was developed from Lexus' respected LS 400 sedan. The coupe had well-balanced handling with good grip in tight turns. It was also a quiet and comfortable cruiser.

The SC 400's V-8 was turbine smooth and powerful. The SC 300 had an in-line six that was also smooth and almost as quick -- for considerably less money. Until 1998 the six was available with either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. The V-8 was automatic only.

Both had plush interiors. Leather was standard in the 400 -- optional in the 300. The back seat was cramped in both.
