The 1983-1986 Chrysler
Limousine & Executive Sedan were literal stretches of the
early-'80s front-drive LeBaron -- the first "carriage trade" Chryslers
since the last Stageway Imperial limos of 1970.
Though not badged as LeBarons, they looked like what they were: LeBaron coupes with 24 or 31 inches spliced in the middle. The Executive Sedan offered roomy seating for five, while the longer Limousine had a pair of rear jump seats for carrying up to seven; it also sported the customary division 'twixt passenger and chauffeur's compartments. Both featured leather rear seating, TorqueFlite, and the largest available K-car engines -- which weren't nearly large enough to move these cars with much gusto.
Though bought mainly by companies and airport limousine operators as handier, thriftier "executive transport" than traditional full-size limos, there weren't enough buyers for the idea to endure beyond three years. Little-known then or now, but small enough to be practical daily-drivers for collectors seeking something different. This is oddball proof of how Chrysler sailed through the '80s with seemingly endless permutations of the humble K-car.
Pluses of the 1983-1986 Chrysler Limousine & Executive Sedan:
Length, inches: 203.8/210.8 (Executive/Limo)
Wheelbase, inches: 124.0/131.0 (Executive/Limo)
Weight, pounds: 2,950-3,250
Price, new: $18,900-27,500

Oddity value
- Fits where "stretch" Caddys and Lincolns won't
- Few built, especially the Executive Sedan
- Still basically K-cars
- Anemic performance
- Conversions, so some detail workmanship rough
- Value appreciation looks minimal
- 1983 est.: 500 (both models)
- 1984: Executive Sedan 196; Limo: 594
- 1985: Limo 759
- 1986: Limo 138
