1966 Rambler Ambassador 990 convertible
These Ramblers were essentially the 1963-1964 design with a rectilinear reskin similar to that of concurrent Ambassadors. The Classic's wheelbase was unchanged, however, so its hood remained shorter, and overall proportions were a little stumpier.
A new convertible in the top-line 770 series for 1965 was followed by a sporty 1966 hardtop called Rebel, basically the previous year's bucket-seat 770-H model with a new "crisp-line" roof, loud checked upholstery, and special badges. As with the Ambassador, drivetrains were little changed from 1964, but more closely shared with the senior line.
